Leon Lavender I love this whole album, and struggled to chose between Long Run and Tell Me A Story for my favourite song! Lots of good messages in this album, which I really like about it! Favorite track: Long Run (Pear Tree).

Good morning in early morning the sun comes and touches your skin You’ve caught my, my attention and so I move in your direction So take me with you Oh take me with you We talk in, we talk in circles No I’m not westbound today You’ve got my, my attention but I have nothing left to say So take me with you Oh take me with you So take me with you So take me with you You’ve caught my, my attention But that was not my intention

Strangers stare and they want to be the first to ask for my life in one word But it’s not that simple Why do you care to know am I a boy or a girl? But I don’t care about the answers The questions were boring Please tell me a story (1, 2, 3, 4!) “What did your mom say?” “What is your real name?” “How about those drugs that you take?” “And does your voice change?” “How come you don’t feel ashamed?” “What kind of love do you make?” But you don’t care about my answers Your questions ignore me Let me tell you a story Well, alright Ask me anything you want to and I will tell you the truth My mom is my best friend and this is who I am All of it adds up to keep me sane Yes, I’ve dropped octaves ‘cause I am a mountain range and any kind of love is good enough to be made But I don’t care about the answers The questions were boring Please tell me a story

Where are you headed? Oh Where are you going? Is it everything you wanted? Oh Are you being honest? Hop late night trains into cities into wild night life light fires We’re on this quest, 20-something journey but I’ve stopped taking in stride I can taste the crisis on your lips I’m losing myself in it I can taste the crisis on your lips and I’m loving this 2am no destination, no destination, no no no Be my friend, until the very end until the Where are you headed? Oh Where are you going? Is it everything you wanted? Are you being honest? Step close the edge, there’s a word, there’s a word, there’s a word for the urge off platforms or cliffs -- to propel forward But I hang onto youth and I hang onto you Can you taste the crisis on my lips? Are you loving this? 2am no destination, no destination, no no no Be my friend, until the very end until the 2am no destination, no destination, no no no Be my friend, until the very end until the Where are you headed? Where are you going? Is it everything you wanted? A new beginning? Where are you headed? Oh Where are you going? Is it everything you wanted? Oh Are you being honest? I can taste the crisis on your lips I’m losing myself in it Can you taste the crisis on my lips? 2am no destination, no destination, no no no Be my friend, until the very end until the Where are you headed? Where are you going?

No I’m not always happy but thanks for not asking And I know this will take some time to make it right in my mind We came together though a winter’s fire then lost it all to summer’s sighs We both knew we could make it right but we let it die, we just let it die Though I’d like to make it right it’s just not the place or time How do you know if it is the end? “We can still be friends” but can we be friends? Space heals if you give it a chance but I fell in too, haven’t seen you since And though I’d like to make it right it’s just not the place or time So as we walked right to the light I turned to you to say goodbye You held my bones up alright then you’d lay them down, side by side I haven’t slept through a single night seen every second of this time Though I’d like to make it right it’s just not the place or time So as we walked right to the light I turned to you to say goodbye (So I just say goodbye)

Spend so much time thinking about the long run We don’t open our eyes during all the shorter ones No, babe, I can’t tie any knots right now I see love and I want to believe it but I’m still untangling all these pits I’ve grown deep down in my stomach, well I am a pear tree, apparently I want nobody yet they still appear next to me Be my best friend, you can be my war Something worth destroying myself for No, actually wait no -- I’ve seen this all before Love’s an addiction and I’m sicker than I’ve ever been So admit me, you can commit me Fact check every moment in between No tomorrow, just today No plans, no flights to the UK LA or DC, the leaves change and they want me to leave, but I stay still and I stand still Start every talk with the same spiel Spend so much time thinking about the long run We don’t open our eyes during all the shorter ones It’s been a good time, we’ve had a lot of fun So let’s open our eyes during all the shorter runs Not a full sprint, I had a splinter Still holding hands when I first met her Back to back and overlap well being alone is something that I can’t No wait I can! I moved to Boston with all my best friends, I’ve got no plans, and though this city haunts me with ex-girlfriends They just remind me of who I woulda been if I wasn’t who I am on my own Spend so much time thinking about the long run We don’t open our eyes during all the shorter ones It’s been a good time, we’ve had a lot of fun So let’s open our eyes during all the shorter runs Well, take it easy You can take it slow There’s no need to rush We’ve got nowhere to go And take it easy You can take it slow There’s no need to rush We’ve got nowhere to go, well I just wanna grow, on my own and find my way home Spend so much time thinking about the long run We don’t open our eyes during all the shorter ones It’s been a good time, we’ve had a lot of fun So let’s open our eyes during all the shorter runs x3

about

Skylar Kergil is a transgender singer-songwriter, poet, and activist currently living and working in Boston, MA. This being his first studio produced EP, he collaborated with friends to bring a bigger sound out of his acoustic songs. Inspired by storytelling, Tell Me A Story explores themes of adventure, relationships, and gender. From an acoustic 'Take Me With You' to an upbeat, spoken 'Long Run (Pear Tree),' this EP was written during a time of discovering his youth had passed - looking back with nostalgia and forward with promise.
